H7N9 as of April 12, 2013

For those of you who haven’t heard, the Avian flu is back, but this isn’t your normal H1N1. No, this is H7N9, baby!

So far, 9 people have died, and 23 people have been hospitalized since its discovery. Most of the infected areas have been around the Ningbo region –yes, that region where the one famous city is located with that river of dead pigs, fish, and other things– but there have been cases in other parts of the country as well.

The good news is, there’s already a cure, and a 4-year old who contracted the virus is now out of the hospital:

Meanwhile, as Beijing Cream put it, “Hey, they found a use for ChengGuan”: Chase chickens to round them up and kill them before they get infected.
